The Palace of the Kraków Bishops is one of the main symbols of the city. This baroque palace was built in the years 1637-1644 on the Cathedral Hill in Kielce as ordered by bishop Jakub Zadzik.
The Palace used to be the residence of the Kraków Bishops and it has been housing the National Museum since 1971. In 2005 a miraculous Italian garden was set up at the back of the Palace.
Kielce History Museum is located at 4 Św. Leonarda Street in a newly renovated, 19th-century classical tenement house.
The Museum was opened for tourists on 1st February 2008 and it has been extremely popular ever since. Its visitors can attend a number of workshops, concerts and so called “A cart with a history” – a series of meetings showing a history of particular place.
The Museum offers permanent exhibitions showing history of the city as well as many temporary exhibitions.
The Museum of Toys and Play is the oldest and largest museum in Poland. It was established in 1979 and houses over 4.5 thousand exhibit items.
Visitors can see tens of diverse exhibitions, including dolls from all over the world, historical toys, folk toys, model cars and model railways.
The Museum of Toys and Play can be found at 2 Wolności Square in a historic, 19th-century building of a former covered market.
